Week Three

This week we talked about life cycles, and how they can be taught using NGSS standards. We did an activity during class where we formed different stages of a living being's life cycle using play doh, using it as a model to represent our learning. We then shared with the other members of our class to see what they had done. This relates back to what we have been learning throughout the entire semester about using the NGSS standards to incorporate into our lessons. What we learned in lecture about cellular respiration and photosynthesis could easily be incorporated into this lesson too, as those are the processes that allow the stages of the life cycle to continue. I could definitely see myself applying this lesson into my future classroom. It was a very helpful activity to engage in the information, and very good modeling practice, which is something that isn't done much in the classroom.

  1. My group also did the life cycle of a frog! Your froglet is very well done too!! I also see myself using this modeling practice in my classroom. It is keep and causes little mess as well as being affordable and reusable. Well done, Alex.
